Positions available
There is a series of
postdoctoral
positions in Geometry available in the EDGE network every year in
2000-2004. Please see the page,
Structure, for details about the
Universities in the network and the researchers involved in the project. Short
term positions (4 months or less) as well as long term positions (more than 4
months) are available. The short term positions may be of interest for Post Docs
already in a long term job as a way to visit another European centre.
Please download the application
form. It is a LaTeX template and we ask you to fill in the requested
information in this template (please do not use too many special LaTeX
features). Please send the completed form to the coordinator of the node where
you chosen University belongs. Please contact the local home-page/node-coordinator for more
information.

Before signing a contract with our network each Postdoctoral candidate will
be asked to sign a EDGE Postdoctoral Researcher
Declaration.
Please download the EDGE Postdoctoral Positions
Poster and help us with the advertisement.
Please download the Young
Researcher's Report included in this link as annex A (to be
completed personally by each young researcher funded under the contract at the
end of his/her period of employment/fellowship (i.e. only once for each
individual) within the network and returned to the coordinator in a sealed envelope.
The Commission insists that a Work-Sheet for the young researcher has to be signed
every month by the node signing the contract with the candidate. For some
institutions this may be a very new experience. Here
is how it is done in
Odense for all members of Imada.
Applicants are asked to contact the relevant node coordinator/homepage for
informations about salary, tax, pension, holidays etc. The Marie Curie figures
are indicative for the salary. Look around page 38-39 in the MC-information. As an example see Salary for
Postdoctoral Fellows at EDGE-Odense.
The main objective of the network is the training of young researchers. The
most important thing is of course to do interesting research. Here
are a few more things to remember about the training of young researchers.
General Information
EDGE is a Research Training Network in Differential Geometry within the
"Human Potential - Research Training Networks" Programme of the European
Commission. It offers post doctoral positions at each of its associated nodes,
as part of its initiative to foster research in central subjects of this active
domain of mathematical research.
General enquiries about the programme and the opportunities it is offering
for young researchers should be made in the first instance to the Network
Coordinator, Henrik Pedersen, SDU
Odense University. As a general rule the candidate must be :
- a young researcher (35 years or less of age, although an exemption will
be made for compulsory military service or child care);
- holding a doctoral degree or a degree that qualifies her or him to embark
on a doctoral degree;
- able to contribute to one of the areas of activity described in the
research objectives of the network;
- a national of a Member State of the European Community, a Candidate
State for EU membership or an Associated
State, or he/she
must have resided in the Community for at least five years. The candidate
must not be a national of the country in which he/she wishes to hold the
position, or have carried out their normal activities in that country for
more than 12 of the 24 months prior to their appointment.
